In Sanskrit, the word ‘bandha’ means ‘to lock, to hold, to tighten or to bind’. Learning their correct application is one of the key elements of a successful yoga practice. Essentially, it is our bandhas that control the flow of our breath through our body. They allow energy to flow through us, and if applied correctly can create an incredible pressurized system of support and stability in even the most challenging positions.
In this workshop we will explore the key philosophical concepts of bandha practice in the yogic tradition, as well as learn to understand the anatomy behind these intricate systems which are contained within each of us. Through a combination of asana, pranayama, discussions, and observations, this workshop will give you a whole new lens through which to view your practice!
